Edmonton is an amazing city with some incredibly inspiring locations for family portraits. After years of experience, I know just how overwhelming location scouting and digging through Google searches can be when planning. That is why I have created a quick and easy list of 5 of my all time favourite outdoor locations to photograph at. From gorgeous riverside beaches, to open fields, to groves of tress and stunning view points, Terwillegar Park has it all! I absolutely love photographing at this location because of its versatility. There is truly something for everyone here. Not to mention it is also dog friendly!

2. Millcreek
The Millcreek Ravine is perfect for families who want to get playful. In the warm Spring and Summer months the creek provides an excellent opportunity for splashing, throwing rocks, and exploring nature. There is also a playground near by, so the fun never really stops! I love this location because it always brings out the adventurous soul in all of us, plus there are endless activities to keep busy little ones entertained.

More Inspiring Edmonton Locations for Family Portraits to Explore!
The Wildlife Underpass just off of the Anthony Henday is a great location if you a looking to have a mix of images in both a natural and urban setting. On the way to the underpass there is a fun little network of trails to explore with plenty of groves of trees and beautiful fields. Plus, it is only a short walk so even little legs can make the trek! The underpass itself offers some awesome graffiti, so it definitely has the ‘cool’ factor covered. There are plenty of opportunities to explore, as well as have little moments of discovery. This location couldn’t be more diverse!

The Mactaggart Sanctuary trail is perfect for families looking to explore nature. From forest to footbridges this area has plenty for the adventurous spirit! This is also a great spot to see wildlife (if you’re lucky that is).

Last but not least, is Whitemud Creek. The creek offers plenty of opportunity to play and explore, which is so much fun – especially if you are looking for a more interactive session! The scenery is absolutely gorgeous and you feel fully immersed in nature. Plus, this is another trail that is perfect for all skill levels and ages!
