Family Photography in Millcreek

September 28, 2020

When I initially chat with the families who have just booked a session, we begin our discussion talking about the location and vibe for our session. Some families want open fields and tall grasses, some families want their own backyards, some families want urban cityscapes, and some families, like this one, want their favourite place they frequent together.  Millcreek is steps from this adorable families home. They walk their pup there and explore on nearly a daily basis. The creek provides fun for their small children. Essentially,  it was the perfect place for our summery session together.  We headed down to the creek and let the kids play. This Mama was less concerned about posed portraits of her children, and instead wanted pictures that represented her family connection and the time they spend together.  Our kids change so quickly that photographing them “as they are” is important part of my work. As our kids grow we forget the way they run up the slide or how the run straight into water without a care. We forget about the goofy toothless grins and the how they chase each other with muddy hands.  Sometimes it’s less about the posed smiles and more about remembering the here and now.  While this session still got the classic portraits, the moments is what really mattered.

I’m always available  to chat about what I can offer your family as a storyteller and photographer. Our moments become our memories, and I’m here to help you remember them all.  It’s the reason my sessions are a bit longer than the local “average”.  You may wonder how your kids could last 90 minutes- but they aren’t forcing smiles for an hour and a half, they’re getting your full attention and playing with their family. It’s not “work”, it’s just plain fun. They’ll probably ask when they can do it again! Ha! My clients always remark how it’s the most relaxed family portrait situation they could have imagined.  That’s exactly my goal- to keep it stress free and fun,  while I confidently document all the little things that make your family uniquely yours.

If you have any questions, send me a message to info@knphoto.ca and let’s talk!
