Christine & Jimmy- Edmonton Wedding Photography

November 22, 2012

If I had one word to describe Christine and Jimmy’s wedding it would  be laughter. Christine and Jimmy had me laughing from the moment I started photographing their day early one fall morning. Their entire day was full of Chinese Traditions, starting with the groomsmen attempting to pay the bridesmaids in order for the groom to see his bride.  The bridesmaids made the groomsmen  preform several feats in order to get closer to the house- drinking games, push-ups, yoga, dancing, singing…. and it all started off with fireworks at 8am in the morning. We were all in fits of giggles watching the guys act ridiculous all in the name of tradition.

The heartfelt ceremony took place at the Con Boland Gardens with a dramatic damask backdrop filled with flowers. Handwritten vows made every guest smile as they read them tearfully to each other. The guests enjoyed a garden luncheon while the couple had a traditional tea ceremony. Again  Christine and Jimmy had everyone laughing and tearing up as well.  Christine was in and out of her traditional wedding dress and her Chinese dress all day. Both were equally beautiful and I loved seeing  how each one made the event special. I really enjoyed spending time with the couple and their bridal party during our time for portraits, everyone was just having a great day- it seemed like there wasn’t a moment when someone wasn’t joking around, laughing or just enjoying the moment. Although it may have a been a long day (especially for the couple who was up at 4am to get ready!) it went by so quickly with all the fun and joking around.

The reception that followed was also filled with Chinese games and (of course) the laughter didn’t stop.  The 10  course meal was fantastic but what really stole the show was Jimmy giving his speech trying to tell Christine how much he loved her. He couldn’t get the words out with choking back the tears. It was obvious from the moment I met Christine and Jimmy that they are deeply in love and are basically inseparable, but listening to Jimmy give his speech and watching them together was wonderful reminder of love.

Thank you for including me in your day and making me feel so welcome. Another big Thank you to Christina from ID Bohemia and Christina from Sweet Bliss Weddings for both making the day outstanding ( and making it super easy to remember names- ha!)

Cheers
